Introduction

Alpha Chi Omega is a sorority that strives to empower women through sisterhood and service. Each year, our chapter participates in multiple philanthropy events to help support our two national philanthropies: the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Below is a list of some of the events we hold annually. We hope you will join us in supporting these important causes!

-Canned Food Drive: Collects canned food items to donate to a local food bank or Pantry.
-Bake Sale: Sells baked goods to raise money for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, which provides scholarships and educational programming for members, supports women’s shelters nationwide, and funds research on domestic violence prevention.
-Chili Cook-off: Members make their best chili recipes and compete for the title of best chili cook! All proceeds go to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, which provides 24/7 support for victims of domestic violence.
-Silent Auction: solicits donations from local businesses and individuals to be auctioned off at our event. All proceeds go to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation.

What is Alpha Chi Omega?

Alpha Chi Omega is a women’s fraternity founded on October 15, 1885. The Fraternity is one of the oldest and largest women’s fraternities in the United States. Alpha Chi Omega currently has more than 200,000 initiated members and more than 160 collegiate chapters across the United States.

The Fraternity’s open motto is “Together let us seek the heights.” TheFraternity’s official colors are red and green, and its symbol is the Lyre.

What is the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation?

The Alpha Chi Omega Foundation is the 501(c)(3) charitable arm of our sisterhood. The Foundation’s purpose is to support educational and leadership opportunities for our members, as well as fund domestic violence awareness and prevention initiatives.

Annually, the Foundation awards over $100,000 in scholarships and grants to help our sisters reach their fullest potential. We are able to do this through the support of our generous donors, who make gifts that directly impact the lives of our members. Donations to the Foundation are used to:

-Support educational opportunities, including scholarships and grants for undergraduate and graduate studies
-Provide leadership development programs for officers and chapter advisors
-Fund domestic violence awareness and prevention initiatives, including our national Make a Stand Day campaign

What are the philanthropy events that Alpha Chi Omega participates in?

One of Alpha Chi Omega’s main philanthropy events is our oxyglow 5k. This is a glow in the dark 5k event that takes place in the fall semester. We have a lot of fun with this event and it is a great way to raise money for our philanthropy, which is domestic violence awareness. We also participate in a number of other events throughout the year to raise money and awareness for domestic violence, including dodgeball tournaments, bake sales, car washes, and more.

How can I get involved with Alpha Chi Omega’s philanthropy events?

At Alpha Chi Omega, we are continually working to support our national philanthropy, Domestic Violence Awareness. We have many different events throughout the year to help raise money and awareness for the cause. Here are some ways you can get involved:

-Attend one of our awareness and education events. Examples include domestic violence simulators, guest speakers, and workshops on healthy relationships.
-Participate in our Denim Day fundraiser. On Denim Day, we collect donations of new or gently used jeans, which are then sold in our online store. All proceeds go to support Alpha Chi Omega’s Foundation and its work to end domestic violence.
-Make a donation to our philanthropy fund. Your donation will go directly to the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and its programs to support survivors of domestic violence.

Conclusion

Overall, philanthropy is a great way to get involved on campus and in the local community. It is also a great way to meet new people and have fun while doing good. Alpha Chi Omega’s philanthropy events are a great way to do all of those things. If you are looking for a way to get involved, we encourage you to check out our next event!
