What is Alpha Delta Pi’s Philanthropy?
Our philanthropy is Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias awareness, education, and research. We partner with The Longest Day, an official signature fundraiser of the Alzheimer’s Association, to help end the disease.
Since our founding in 1851, Alpha Delta Pi has believed in the power of giving back—especially to our communities and those in need. We have always been a philanthropic organization, but in 1992 we took our dedication one step further by partnering with the Alzheimer’s Association. As sisters of Alpha Delta Pi, we are committed to improving the lives of those affected by Alzheimer’s Disease and related dementias, as well as their caregivers.
Our partnership began with The Longest Day, an official signature fundraiser of the Alzheimer’s Association. Held annually on the summer solstice, this day celebrates caregivers and honors those facing Alzheimer’s disease with strength, passion, and endurance. Funds raised on this day support care and research initiatives at more than 300 local offices across the country, as well as support cutting-edge global research initiatives.
In recent years we have also supported Walk to End Alzheimer’s through team participation and fundraising efforts. This nationwide event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to get involved and make a difference in the fight against this disease.
Alpha Delta Pi is proud to stand alongside the Alzheimer’s Association in this fight—and we won’t rest until a cure is found!
How does Alpha Delta Pi’s Philanthropy help others?
Alpha Delta Pi’s Philanthropy benefits many people. Our philanthropy supports the Ronald McDonald House Charities, which helps families with sick children, as well as the National City of Hope, which helps cancer patients and their families. We also support blanket drives for the Salvation Army and other organizations that help the homeless. By raising money and awareness for these organizations, we hope to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most.
What are some of the events that Alpha Delta Pi’s Philanthropy hosts?
Each year, Alpha Delta Pi’s Philanthropy hosts several events to raise money for their chosen philanthropy, the Ronald McDonald House.
Some of their biggest events include a bake sale, where they sell homemade goodies; a pancake breakfast, where they serve pancakes to those who donate; and a car wash, where they wash people’s cars in exchange for a donation.
They also participate in various other events throughout the year, such as an annual 5k run/walk and Gala for Gold, which is a black-tie optional event that includes both live and silent auctions.
