Introduction

Alpha Phi devotes countless hours to philanthropic causes each year. Sisters participate in various activities to support the missions of our three national philanthropies: the Alpha Phi Foundation, Cardiac Care, and the American Red Cross. Our chapter is proud to have raised over $65,000 for philanthropy last year alone! Here are some of the ways we support our causes:

Philanthropies

The Alpha Phi sorority is committed to making a difference in the lives of others. We support a variety of philanthropic organizations that work to improve the lives of women and girls. Some of our top philanthropies include the Alice L. Hodge Memorial Scholarship, the American Red Cross, and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.

American Cancer Society

In partnership with the American Cancer Society, Alpha Phi raises funds and awareness for breast cancer research, education and patient services. Their campaign, “Alpha Phi Fighting for a Future Without Breast Cancer”, has raised over $3 million dollars since it began in 1996. In 2013-2014, Alpha Phi was the top fundraising organization for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walks nationwide.

Make-A-Wish Foundation

Since 1980, Make-A-Wish has enriched the lives of children with life-threatening medical conditions through its mission to granting their wishes. Research has shown that the Wish experience can enhance the physical and emotional well-being of Wish Kids.

Alpha Phi is committed to supporting Make-A-Wish through a variety of initiatives, including our national partnership with Wish Upon A Star, fundraising events such as our National Handbag Day event, and through donations from our Alpha Phi Foundation.

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Our purpose is clear: Finding cures. Saving children.

As the only cancer center ranked in the top 4 of U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals, St. Jude is committed to providing state-of-the-art treatment and cutting-edge research.

Since our founding more than 50 years ago, we’ve changed the way the world treats childhood cancer, and we aren’t stopping now. With your support, families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live. Conclusion

In conclusion, these are Alpha Phi’s top philanthropies. All of these philanthropies are important to the sorority and to the community.
